History and architectural development of Berg am Laim

The name of the district goes back to its medieval history and the nature of the soil. Bricks came from Berg am Laim for many important buildings in Munich's city center, such as the Frauenkirche. The clay deposits were exhausted around 1900 and the brickworks were closed.

In the historical development of Berg am Laim, the freight and marshalling yard played an important role. The station was located on the line connecting Munich with Rosenheim and Mühldorf, respectively.
