Living in Munich-Trudering
Trudering and Riem form Munich's district 15. The borough is located in the peripheral area east of Munich and borders Berg am Laim to the west, the municipality of Haar to the east, Johanneskirchen to the north, and Ramersdorf-Perlach to the south.
With its population of around 65,000, the district is particularly popular with families. Germany's first family center was established here in 1970. Serving as a focal point for young families and new residents, the center provides support and has gained nationwide recognition, inspiring many imitators. Hardly any other district is home to as many children as Trudering. To care for the little ones, there are 68 daycare facilities and 18 schools available.
The Moosfeld commercial area offers numerous jobs in a wide variety of industries. However, most jobs can be found in the service sector. Workers are primarily employed as salaried staff and civil servants, which makes Trudering a typical middle-class neighborhood.
Along Truderinger Straße, Wasserburger Landstraße, and Friedenspromenade in the new development area, numerous shops and supermarkets offer daily necessities. In addition, the large Riem Arcaden shopping center is located in the nearby Messestadt Riem district. Around 107 doctors, 8 pharmacies, and a nursing home are located throughout the entire district.
The residential district of Trudering has still predominantly retained its garden city character. However, in the course of densification, more and more smaller residential complexes are being built in place of the spacious single-family and two-family houses situated in greenery.
In 1917, a year of hardship, pastureland was divided up to secure the self-sufficiency of the urban population. That was the beginning of the Trudering garden city. Since then, construction and population density have increased continuously. The largest proportion of the housing stock dates from the post-war period. Trudering has a vibrant club culture and around 340 hectares of recreational space. Meadows, playgrounds, and sports facilities ensure relaxation and offer leisure activities.
