Moosach is the 10th borough of the Bavarian state capital, Munich. Its districts include Hartmannshofen, Borstei, and Pressestadt. Located in the northwest of Munich, Moosach extends from the Mittlerer Ring – Landshuter Allee – in the east to Waldhornstraße in the west. A brief look into the history of Moosach
Moosach is one of the oldest districts in Munich. There are prehistoric findings that prove a settlement as early as 1,800 BC. However, Moosach is only mentioned in documents in the year 807 AD. Moosach was named after a small river between the Isar and the Würm.

Moosach is a former farming village and originally consisted of about two dozen houses. But in 1686 the village was elevated to a manorial estate, a castle and the first local school were built. In 1809, the first entrepreneur moved to Moosach and founded a cloth factory here. The farming village gradually developed into a working-class suburb. This development was favored above all by the railway connection, which also made Moosach more attractive for more industry.

Construction was also actively underway along Dachauer Straße. From 1913, Moosach officially belonged to Munich and is part of the Neuhausen-Moosach borough. With the construction of the Olympic Press City, built for the 1972 Olympics, a new and important district of Moosach was created. The one built in the Olympic Park Olympic Tower is the second-tallest building in Bavaria.

Pelkovenschlössl

Since 2004, the Schlössl has been used as a cultural and community center, offering its visitors a diverse program. It has thus become the center of cultural life in Moosach. It was built as a manor castle by the brothers Veit Adam and Maximilian von Pelkoven. In the course of its history, it was partially used as an inn and a schoolhouse, and several rental apartments were also built here. However, this is all history now. Borstei

The listed housing estate was built between 1924 and 1929 by the architect and contractor Bernhard Borst. Mr. Borst was a demanding architect, and you can see that in the Borstei. Munich-Moosach is crossed by several major arterial roads. Moosach is also easily accessible by public transport. The S-Bahn line S1 (airport line), the tram, numerous bus lines, and the U-Bahn line U3 connect Moosach with the other districts of Munich.
