Living in Munich-Allach
The rural district of Allach lies in the extreme northwest of Munich. Together with the district of Untermenzing to the south, Allach forms the 23rd city district. To the west, the district borders Langwied, and to the east, the district of Ludwigsfeld. The former village of Allach is still easily recognizable today with its rural structures. These include the arrangement around the church of St. Peter and Paul and the inn, as well as the still-existing agricultural businesses.
The 28,000 residents of the district live in low-density housing consisting predominantly of single-family and two-family homes. Multi-story buildings can only be found south of Angerlohe.
Allach is connected to public transport by the S-Bahn line 2, which runs right through the district. Buses also operate there. To the south lies the A 8 Munich-Stuttgart freeway, and to the west is the A 99 freeway ring.
The residents of Allach have access to a well-developed social network. This includes doctors and pharmacies as well as daycare centers and schools, a retirement home, and a library. In addition, there are over 30 clubs and associations in Allach-Untermenzing. The cultural association in particular regularly manages to bring an urban flair to the rural district.
However, Allach is also known as an industrial location. Companies such as Krauss-Maffei, MAN, and MTU are located near the Allach train station. Nevertheless, the impact of industry, commerce, and the adjacent motorways on the residential areas is low, because interspersed green and protected areas, such as the Angerlohe and the Allach Forest, not only serve as ecological compensation areas, but also double as recreational spaces. A publicly accessible leisure area is now located on the grounds of the former Allach open-air pool.
